Packers 5-1 Winners Versus Cleveland
|
Cincinnati registered a win at Roman Arena by beating the Cleveland Bobcats, 5-1. Pitcher Art Ledington was one reason why the Packers triumphed. Ledington yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. Cleveland falls to 5-4.
Mike Clarke had a big 2-run double for the Packers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Rick Tomlinson and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Packers ahead, 4-1.
Clarke called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
