|
The St. Louis Explorers picked up a win at Gates Crescent Park, knocking off the Denver Burros, 2-1. On the mound for St. Louis was left-hander Jorge Gonzalez. He played a key role in the triumph. St. Louis is now 39-40, while Denver is 32-45.
Gonzalez, a native of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, was dealing all game. He kept Denver hitters off-balance, while giving the Explorers 8.1 quality innings. Gonzalez threw 100 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
"Tough loss," said Denver manager Clark Anderson. "But we'll learn from it."
