Dan Crumm pitched a gem to lead Toronto to victory over the New York Empires, 3-1. Steve Persenaire was credited with the save, his 11th in 14 tries. Toronto sits in second place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division at 40-38.

Crumm contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Toronto get the win.

"Dan's a gamer," said Toronto manager Jim Burns. "Glad he's on our side."
