Los Angeles beat Chicago on the strength of starting pitcher Rick McStay's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. With the win, Los Angeles improves its record to 4-5.

Champ Arkle took Chicago hurler Larry Cox deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 3-run home run put the Blockbusters on top, 3-1. In all, Arkle had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

After the game, Los Angeles manager John Trausch applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
