Blockbusters Fall Short, 4-3, at Chicago
The Chicago Traders did just enough to sneak past the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 4-3, at Union Field. Chicago pitcher Larry Cox, in particular, had a standout performance. Cox, now 6-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. Randy Weisenberg earned the save, his 21st, for the Traders.

Chicago shortstop Dave Lindsey helped the Traders go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Lindsey hit a run-scoring single off Los Angeles pitcher Larry Mitchell.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Lindsey.

The win for the Traders raised their record to 42-36.
