Drillers Score Late, Upend Seagulls, 4-2
|
Houston left fielder Mike Lockhart contributed significantly to his team's 4-2 win over the San Francisco Seagulls. Lockhart, who finished 4th in the NBL in hits with 176 in 1969, went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Drillers. Houston is now 38-41, while San Francisco is 50-27.
Lockhart had a timely hit for Houston in the bottom of the eighth. With Houston trailing 2-1, he turned a full count sinker into a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season, making it 4-2, Houston.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Lockhart.
