Chavez Shines in 10-6 Pittsburgh Win
Getting offensive support from Carlos Chavez, the Pittsburgh Industrials topped the St. Louis Explorers, 10-6. Chavez was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2 for the Industrials. Jerry Zaruba, who finished 3rd in the NBL in innings pitched with 254.2 last year, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 14 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. The win elevated the Industrials to 41-36.

Rob Isenbarger had a big bases-clearing triple for the Industrials in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 5-3 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Harlan Estes and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Industrials ahead, 8-3.

"We think we're a good team overall, so we're not too surprised to win today," said Isenbarger.
