Cincinnati Beats Philadelphia, 4-0
|
Cincinnati starter Fernando Lopez put a stranglehold on the Philadelphia offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Packers to a 4-0 win. Lopez picked up the win for Cincinnati, going 8.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 5-10. Brian Williams earned the save, his 3rd in 4 tries.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Cory Ruoff? The Cincinnati center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Packers on top, 2-0. For the game, Ruoff had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Lopez.
The win elevated the Packers to 39-38.
