Atlanta and New York duked it out and the Generals came out victorious.

Atlanta Generals starter Alfredo Morales turned in an exceptional performance against the New York Empires at Atlantic Station Field, resulting in a Atlanta win, 5-2. The win lifted the Atlanta record to 43-34.

The Generals got a big at-bat from first baseman Luis Torres. For the game, Torres went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Atlanta a 2-1 lead.

"Nice win for us," said Torres. "Now we'll go after the next one."
