Behind a solid performance from right fielder Bob Underwood, the New York Knickerbockers defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 11-8. Underwood slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Knickerbockers. New York is now 38-42, Cleveland 41-39.

Steve Wells, who is tied for 10th in the NBL with a .392 on-base percentage, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run. For the game, the third baseman was 1-4 with a home run and a walk.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
