Drillers Get Past Los Angeles, 5-4
|
Los Angeles right fielder Bob Wicke had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Wicke belted 2 home runs, even as Houston beat the Pobladores, 5-4. Warner Manning earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-3. The win for the Drillers raised their record to 43-37.
Charlie Fee was the walk-off hero for Houston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Drillers pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We ground out the win," said Fee. "That's all that matters."
