Knickerbockers Win Thriller, 6-4
|
The New York Knickerbockers beat the Cincinnati Packers, 6-4. New York pitcher and Overland Park, Kansas, native Dave Torre led the way. With the win, New York elevates its record to 5-3.
New York got a knockout punch from Steve Wright. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Torre said in his postgame press conference.
