Quakers Get Clonked by Knickerbockers, 5-3
|
The New York Knickerbockers picked up a win at Knickerbocker Stadium, taking down the Philadelphia Quakers, 5-3. Starting pitcher Dave Torre was a big reason why. Torre picked up the win for New York, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The Knickerbockers, now 6-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
With no one out in the bottom of the third, Francisco Chavez put New York in front, 2-0, with a 2-run single. The Knickerbockers went on to win the ballgame.
"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Chavez said. "And the same is true when you lose."
