Hawks Use Late Surge to Win

Chicago Hawks starter Johnny Russell turned in an exceptional performance against the San Francisco Seagulls at Hyde Park Stadium, resulting in a Chicago win, 5-2. Tanner Latour earned his 1st save, after closing out the game. The win gives the Hawks a record of 2-6.
Mark Morris, who finished 5th in the ABL in triples with 11 in 1970, chipped in a grand slam home run for Chicago in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
Chicago manager Mike Flaherty commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
