Thanks in large part to left fielder Miguel Preciado, the New York Empires beat the Detroit Wolverines, 7-4. Preciado went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jack Pratt, now 4-4, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. New York is in third place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division with a record of 40-38.

Preciado had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch sinker from Alfredo Morales, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Empires a 7-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Preciado.

"It was a solid team effort," said Preciado after the game.
