Downward Spiral Continues for Kansas City
The Los Angeles Blockbusters downed the Kansas City Bulls, 3-1, at Independence Field. Stellar pitching by Larry Messenger had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins with 17 in 1967, handcuffed his opponent all game. Jerry Wilson collected save number 1. Kansas City has now lost 9 straight.

Los Angeles took a 3-1 lead on Messenger's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Paul Geary in the top of the eighth, propelled Los Angeles to the win.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Messenger.
