Captains Get Past Chicago for 4-3 Win
|
The San Diego Captains topped the Chicago Traders, 4-3, in National Baseball League action at San Diego Sporting Complex. The standout performance belonged to San Diego pitcher and Bethpage, New York, native Jeff Ferguson. By defeating Chicago, the third-place Captains improved to 39-41.
San Diego took a 4-3 lead on Jerry Olsen's 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Olsen hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher Bruce Shone visibly frustrated.
"Jeff gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said San Diego skipper Joe Mack.
