Dallas got a terrific performance from pitcher Steve Coomes, but it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Pobladores. Los Angeles won the San Vicente Park contest, 3-2. Coomes threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win belonged to Donnie Ball in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Frank Dunn took the loss for Dallas. Mike Rios finished the game for Los Angeles and earned his 1st save.
Los Angeles took a 3-1 lead on Chuck Gunter's 15th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Gunter hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Dallas pitcher Frank Dunn visibly frustrated.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson.
The win puts Los Angeles at 32-47.
