Eagles Popped by Knickerbockers, 7-2
|
It might have been a rain-shorted game, but the hometown crowd didn't seem to mind.
New York turned a fine outing from starter Jack Forbes into a victory over the Washington Eagles at Knickerbocker Stadium. The final score was 7-2. The Knickerbockers raised their record to 6-3.
The Knickerbockers got a big at-bat from left fielder Bob Underwood. For the game, Underwood was 2-3 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Forbes told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
