Brooklyn beat Cleveland in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Brooklyn Bluebirds picked up a win at Flatbush Park, knocking off the Cleveland Bobcats, 5-4. On the mound for Brooklyn was left-hander Dave Gaultney. He played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Gaultney, now 6-8. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5.
Jackie Cooper, who is tied for 9th in the NBL in total bases with 144, helped out the Brooklyn cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 3.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Cooper.
With the victory, the Bluebirds upped their record to 44-36.
