Generals Get Past New York for 2-1 Win
The Atlanta Generals scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the New York Empires at Atlantic Station Field. Atlanta pitcher George Palmer held his own in the contest. The victory gives Atlanta a record of 44-35.

The Generals were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 25-year old left fielder Steve Walp landed a big blow. He turned a 2-1 fastball from Tom Duncan into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Atlantic Station Field denizens into a frenzy and sent the Generals home with a thrilling 2-1 win.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Walp.
