The Atlanta Generals beat the Twin Cities Northmen, 9-7, at Twin Cities Stadium. Richie Lord went 4 for 6 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The 29-year old right fielder was a menace to Twin Cities all day. Ray Norton recorded his 1st save for Atlanta. The defeat makes Twin Cities 35-44.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Roberto Palacios came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Twin Cities pitcher Edgar Trask, he hit a first pitch changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Atlanta on top, 8-7.

Lord told the Atlanta Bulletin: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
