Dairymen Use Late Score to Top Burros, 3-2
|
The Denver Burros got a sterling performance from pitcher Keith Williams, but the Milwaukee Dairymen still prevailed, 3-2. Williams threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win went to Bob Brion in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Ralph Weintraub took the loss. Milwaukee is now 37-44, while Denver is 44-36.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Victor Castro came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Denver pitcher Ralph Weintraub, he hit a 3-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 3-2.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Castro.
