Captains Suffer One-Run Loss at Chicago
In a low-scoring affair between the Chicago Traders and the San Diego Captains, pitcher Bobby Peters was the difference between victory and defeat. The Chicago left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Traders win. The winner was Peters. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Jack DeWitt. The Traders raised their record to 44-37.

John Seidler had a big run-scoring double for the Traders in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a changeup from Jack DeWitt, who is tied for 10th in the NBL in wins with 8, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Traders ahead, 3-0.

San Diego manager Joe Mack said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
