Burros Roll Past Dairymen, 7-2
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Denver Burros and Milwaukee Dairymen were able to complete their ballgame.
Starting pitcher Bob Langham was a major factor in the 7-2 Denver Burros triumph over the Milwaukee Dairymen. Langham, now 9-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 0, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs.
The Dairymen had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Burros going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old third baseman Dick Hoffmeier came to the plate. Hoffmeier hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-1 fastball from Milwaukee hurler Tom Rockliffe. It was Hoffmeier's 14th double of the year.
"I felt good even in the late innings," said Langham after the game.
Denver goes to 53-29. The win puts them 8 games up in their division.
