Bobcats Absorb 7-6 Home Loss
|
Behind the hitting of Charlie Bartels, the St. Louis Explorers stopped the Cleveland Bobcats, 7-6. Bartels went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Explorers. Bernie Tate picked up his 21st save of the season. The Explorers improved their record to 40-42 with the win over Cleveland.
Tom Guinn, the St. Louis shortstop, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 6-5, Explorers. For the game, Guinn was 1 for 4.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Bartels told the St. Louis Today, "and we played pretty well tonight."
