In a tight tilt between St. Louis and Denver, pitcher Willie Purter was a key contributor. The right-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 3-2 Explorers win. St. Louis has now reeled off 7 straight wins.

The decisive blow was delivered by Fernando Martinez in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Pete Stack to win the game for St. Louis. The home crowd went nuts.

"Willie executed his pitches at a high level," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood.
