Empires Sunk by Hurons
|
The Toronto Hurons picked up a win at Dominion Field, topping the New York Empires, 4-1. On the mound for Toronto was left-hander Ben Immel. He played a principal role in the triumph. Getting the save was Steve Persenaire, his 2nd. The Hurons saw their win-loss record go to 35-45. At the same time, the Empires fell to 43-38.
Mickey Bradshaw dealt the Empires a blow in the bottom of the eighth. Batting with the bases loaded and Toronto leading 2-1, Bradshaw hit a 2-1 sinker for a 2-run single.
"Ben's a gamer," said Toronto manager Jim Burns. "Glad he's on our side."
