Seattle Beats Twin Cities, 2-1
|
The Seattle Emeralds picked up a win at Twin Cities Stadium, downing the Twin Cities Northmen, 2-1. On the mound for Seattle was right-hander Denny Goldberg, who played a pivotal role in the win. Goldberg, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Seattle is off to a hot start at 6-2.
Roberto Soto, who signed a 4-year contract worth $2,320,000 on 01/29/1976, had a direct impact on the outcome. Soto contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Seattle up, 2-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Goldberg. "Successful pitchers do it."
