Villamil Delivers Walk-Off Win for Blockbusters
|
The Los Angeles Blockbusters picked up a win at Blockbuster Stadium, dropping the Chicago Traders, 4-3, in 14 innings. Larry Messenger, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins with 17 in 1969, was the difference-maker. The Blockbusters, at 39-43, sit in 6th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.
The Blockbusters got a clutch hit from shortstop Pedro Villamil. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Blockbusters.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Messenger.
