Kansas City third baseman Bob Rawlins had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Rawlins was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as San Diego beat the Bulls, 6-5. Jack DeWitt picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 6-5. Greg Stalling suffered the loss. Getting the save was Brian Meade, his 10th.

Bob Newton came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Kansas City manager DD Martin.

San Diego now has a record of 42-40 with the win.
