Emeralds Drop Northmen, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Seattle Emeralds and the Twin Cities Northmen, Denny Goldberg was the X factor. The Seattle right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Goldberg, now 7-5. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 4. Ron Woods earned the save, his 8th.
Seattle used the timely hitting of Ron Roseboro to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Emeralds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Denny pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Seattle.
