Habitants Get One-Run Win at New York
|
Montreal Habitants starter Oscar Rodela was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the New York Empires, 2-1. Rodela got the win, improving to 5-7. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Al Johns earned the save, his 12th in 13 tries.
With Montreal leading 1-0 in the top of the sixth, Rodela hit a run-scoring single off New York hurler Andy Humphrey. It was the 15th hit of the season for Rodela and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Habitants manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon, "I like our chances."
Montreal, now 41-41, holds down 4th place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
