Terriers Take Down Hurons, 3-2
|
Despite the exploits of second baseman Jeff McPhearson, the Toronto Hurons were beaten by the Boston Terriers, 3-2, in 11 innings. McPhearson was 5 for 5 with a home run and 4 singles. He scored 2 runs. Mark Evert snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-2 on the season. Ron Gordon suffered the loss. Boston, at 39-45, holds down 4th place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
The Terriers got a clutch hit from left fielder Larry Montgomery. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Terriers.
"This place was jumping at the end," Montgomery said.
