Empires Roast Habitants, 11-3
The New York Empires scored a convincing win at Queens Field, defeating the Montreal Habitants, 11-3. One of the hitting stars was Dave Matuzak, the 25th overall pick in the 1965 draft, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. New York starter Jon Pierce was credited with the win after throwing 133 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 8-5. At 43-39, the Empires are currently second in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.

Matuzak contributed in the bottom of the fourth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped New York get the win.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said New York manager Dan Whiting.
