Quakers Get Past New York, 8-7
The timely hitting of Jim Vadnais helped the Philadelphia Quakers down the New York Knickerbockers, 8-7. Vadnais hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Quakers. Today's win puts Philadelphia at 35-50, while New York falls to 44-40.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Vadnais hit a changeup from Dave Torre for a solo home run. The Quakers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Vadnais told the Philadelphia Chronicle.
