Empires Drop Generals, 7-3
|
The New York Empires defeated the Atlanta Generals, 7-3. Doing his part was second baseman Rick Haun, who was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3. Atlanta has now lost 4 in a row.
New York shortstop Javier Abarca contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 52nd hit of the season and put the Empires ahead, 3-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Abarca.
