Cleveland Bobcats starter Scott Dubyak pitched a strong game against the New York Knickerbockers at Lakefront Stadium, leading the Bobcats to victory, 5-1. Dubyak got the win, improving to 6-8. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Bob Yolton, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
The Bobcats got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Ray Baum. For the game, Baum was 1-2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Cleveland a 2-1 lead.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Dubyak. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
The Bobcats improved their record to 42-44 by beating New York.
