Explorers Earn Clutch Win, 5-4
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the St. Louis Explorers and Los Angeles Blockbusters.

The inspired effort of Los Angeles third baseman Joe Lawrence was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the St. Louis Explorers. Lawrence was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. St. Louis reliever Marty Clark picked up the win to move to 3-2. Billy Duprey suffered the loss.

Tommy Pickett hit a run-scoring double off Billy Duprey in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Explorers in front, 5-4. In addition to the double, Pickett had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.

"We take it day by day here," said Pickett, "and today was a good one for us."

The 5th-place Explorers sport a record of 36-49.
