Houston Absorbs 5-1 Loss to Chicago
|
Chicago Hawks starter Steve Papa turned in an exceptional performance against the Houston Drillers at Hyde Park Stadium, resulting in a Chicago win, 5-1. Reliever Gary Ingram picked up the win. His record improves to 6-2. Randy Robins, who finished 4th in the ABL in ERA with 2.42 in 1970, took the loss. The win has Chicago at 33-53.
Chicago shortstop Jim Farrar helped the Hawks go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Farrar hit a run-scoring single off Houston pitcher Randy Robins.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Papa told a Chicago Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
