Hawks Take Home 4-3 Win Over Houston
Both teams had their chances, but the Chicago Hawks eventually prevailed.

Despite a great performance by Houston left fielder Mike Lockhart, the Chicago Hawks defeated the Drillers by the score of 4-3 at Hyde Park Stadium. Lockhart went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Johnny Russell, who threw 111 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 9 hits. Tanner Latour got the save, his 6th in 9 chances.

Paul Backer drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Chicago. The 28-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Francisco Castro. It was his 17th RBI of the season.
