New York third baseman Rick Lintner had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Detroit Wolverines, 8-6. The Empires, now 48-36, have won 4 in a row.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With New York trailing 6-5, Lintner jumped on a changeup from 30-year old left-handed pitcher William Matz and hit a 3-run home run to right. With one swing, the Empires had a walk-off win.

"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Lintner told the New York Daily.
