The 1976 season did not get off to quite the start the Baltimore Lords had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Twin Cities Northmen at Seton Hill Stadium. The final score was 5-3. Catcher Rick Giardina was the top performer for Twin Cities.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Chris Berman? The 29-year old third baseman Berman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Twin Cities up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Northmen manager Jason Gudim.
