Dairymen Stumble, Losing to Captains, 3-2
|
San Diego Sporting Complex was the site of a tense game between the Milwaukee Dairymen and San Diego Captains.
In a tight contest between the San Diego Captains and the Milwaukee Dairymen, Bret Weingartz was the determining factor. The San Diego left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. In 7 innings, Weingartz surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Jack DeWitt locked down his 15th save.
The Captains got a big at-bat from right fielder Mike Alford. For the game, Alford went 1 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 5th triple of the season gave San Diego a 3-1 lead.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
With the win, San Diego pushed its record to 44-42.
