Pobladores Come Up Short at Houston, 2-1
|
The Houston Drillers got a stellar effort from pitcher Randy Robins, helping Houston score a win over the visiting Los Angeles Pobladores, 2-1. The winner was Robins. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Bob Powell. The last-place Pobladores have lost 6 consecutive games.
Houston center fielder Jim Bitting contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 64th hit of the season and put the Drillers ahead, 2-0.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Bitting.
