Industrials Drop Explorers, 2-1
|
St. Louis got a valiant performance from pitcher Danny Prentice, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pittsburgh Industrials. Pittsburgh won the game, 2-1. Prentice threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Ron Winder got credit for the win, improving to 8-5. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 7 innings. Earning his 12th save of the year was Bob Cole.
Keith MacPherson, who is on pace for 120 RBI this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. MacPherson contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 2-0.
"We leaned on our pitching tonight," MacPherson said.
The second-place Industrials have won 4 straight.
