Packers Turn Back New York, 5-4
|
The Cincinnati Packers picked up a win at Roman Arena, taking down the New York Knickerbockers, 5-4. Starting pitcher Fernando Lopez was a big reason why. Dave Young recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 4 for 5. The win gives Cincinnati a season record of 44-42.
Frank Bohley was 1 for 2 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Cincinnati. The five-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Danny Abril. It was his 30th walk of the season.
"Fernando -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Packers manager Martin Abresch. "He was the key to us winning."
