New York Defeated By Bobcats, 8-1
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Lakefront Stadium.
The Cleveland Bobcats defeated the New York Knickerbockers, 8-1. Doing his part was left fielder Don Pelletier, who was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Mike Hoskins earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.
In the bottom of the 1st, Cleveland took the lead on a 2-run single by Mark Bassett. At the time, the Bobcats were trailing 1-0, but Bassett's hit with two outs against New York pitcher Jack Forbes put them in front, 2-1.
Pelletier told a Cleveland Herald reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
With the win, Cleveland has a record of 43-45. New York falls to 48-38.
