Philadelphia Beats Kansas City, 7-2
|
Philadelphia and Kansas City took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Philadelphia beat Kansas City on the strength of starting pitcher Mel Hartman's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-2. Philadelphia goes to 61-34. The win puts them 9 games up in their division.
With two out in the top of the third, Ted Schlener put Philadelphia in front, 3-1, with a 2-run single. The Quakers went on to win the ballgame.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Hartman.
