Generals Stumble, Lose to Habitants
|
Montreal played host to Atlanta at LaSalle Stadium.
The Montreal Habitants topped the Atlanta Generals, 8-4, in American Baseball League action at LaSalle Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Montreal pitcher Rich Barron. Atlanta's current losing streak is now 5 games.
Bill Fowler had a big 2-run double for the Habitants in the bottom of the second inning. With Montreal trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from Gary Ovitt, the 4th overall pick in the 1974 draft, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Habitants ahead, 3-2.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Fowler.
