Industrials Shut Out Explorers, 3-0
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Pittsburgh Industrials and the St. Louis Explorers, Dick Witt was the X factor. The Pittsburgh right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. John Fagan closed out the game, earning his 1st save. The Explorers, now 37-51, have lost 4 straight.
Pittsburgh won the game in part because of Don Keough. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Industrials ahead, 1-0. For the game, Keough had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker.
