Toronto pitcher Dan Crumm did his part in helping his team defeat the New York Empires, 6-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Toronto reliever Herman Gagne was the winner. His record is now 5-3. The losing pitcher was Andy Humphrey. Toronto is 38-51 and New York, with the loss, 48-40.
Bob Bass took New York hurler Jack Pratt deep in the bottom of the eighth. His grand slam home run put the Hurons on top, 6-2. In all, Bass had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I'm happy we won," said Crumm. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
