Seattle pitcher Denny Goldberg had a large part in his team beating the Houston Drillers, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Goldberg went the distance for Seattle. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. Seattle is now 41-45, while Houston is 36-51.

The decisive blow was delivered by Don Gerwig in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 30-year old left-handed pitcher Bill Switzer to win the game for Seattle. The home crowd went nuts.

Seattle manager Mark Velez was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
