Quakers Earn 7-4 Home Win
|
Philadelphia and New York duked it out and the Quakers came out victorious.
Jeff Murchison powered the Philadelphia Quakers to a win over the New York Knickerbockers. The final score was 7-4. The Philadelphia right fielder, who is tied for 3rd in the NBL with a .451 on-base percentage, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Craig Kelly picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 5 in 9 innings.
In the bottom of the third, Philadelphia left fielder Jim Vadnais had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Vadnais stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, Philadelphia. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It was a solid team effort," said Vadnais after the game.
The second-place Quakers have won 4 straight games.
