Bluebirds Nip Packers, 4-3
|
Cincinnati wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Erv Koenig, falling to the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 4-3. Koenig threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Jorge Sandoval picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-8. He struck out 4 in 7 innings. Bob Hill closed out the game, earning his 13th save.
With the bases empty and no one out in the top of the eighth inning, pinch hitter John Seidler delivered big for the Bluebirds. Brooklyn was trailing 3-2 when he belted a solo home run.
Brooklyn manager John Meeker said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
